Kimberly (“Kim”) Kleinhans is a Licensed Independent Clinical Counselor Supervisor. Kim graduated from Wright State University with her masters degree in Marriage and Family counseling. She has over 16 years of experience in counseling and social work in a variety of settings including non-profit agencies, school settings, youth intensive group therapy program, youth partial hospitalization program, child protective services, juvenile courts, and foster care.
Kim specializes in treating children and adolescents with serious mental health issues, complex environmental factors, and difficult to treat diagnoses. While Kim’s primary focus remains children, adolescents, and their families, she has experience treating adults and couples as well. Her areas of expertise include trauma (abuse, grief, abandonment, and loss), issues related to attention and impulsivity (focus, organizational issues, decision making), depression, anxiety, social skills, communication, relationship issues, sexual orientation and gender identify issues, self- esteem, conflict resolution, and anger management.
Kim’s therapeutic approach is relaxed and compassionate, but goal directed. She believes in developing a supportive, collaborative, non-judgmental, therapeutic relationship with clients and utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions to assist clients in reaching their goals. Kim believes every child, adult, and family have strengths that can be built upon in order to reach their goals.
Kim takes a wholistic approach in her own life and in her work. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, gardening, hiking, kayaking, and yoga.
