Sydney Richardson is a licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. Her areas of focus are complex/attachment trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and working with folks in marginalized communities.
Sydney believes that human beings are highly adaptive and an important step toward healing and change is having curiosity and compassion toward why we are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in deep emotional distress. Sydney helps her clients to process their emotional distress in gentle ways that allow them to create insights that move them along in their healing journeys.
Sydney uses a trauma-focused and integrative approach to therapy that incorporates aspects of many different modalities including cognitive based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients identify their emotions and begin to form better relationships with them. Additionally, Sydney uses elements of experiential therapies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Coherence Therapy to help clients get to the roots of their trauma and distress and how they have learned to protect themselves. Sydney believes that mind-body connection is important for clients to do deep healing work to feel more safe within themselves and navigate the world in more empowering ways.
Sydney is passionate about social justice causes and continuing to fight for equality and against oppression. In her free time, Sydney enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, reading romance novels, and watching sports.
